If using large potatoes, boil longer or check them after 10 minutes in the air-fryer to prevent them turning into mash.

Re: A commenter said their potatoes turned into mash.

oh NOOO - sorry queen. I used large potatoes cus I had a budget to stick to but but baby potatoes would be pefect! If using big ones again, check on them after 10 mins! Mine took a while for some reason! XX

Tips

  • Use baby potatoes instead of large potatoes for better texture and to avoid them turning into mash.
  • Check your potatoes after 10 minutes of air-frying, as cooking time may vary depending on potato size.
  • Use a glass to crush the boiled potatoes before seasoning to create the smashed effect.

Swaps

HalloumiCheaper alternative (commenter noted halloumi is expensive, but no specific substitute was suggested)

Dietary Adaptations

VegetarianThe recipe is already vegetarian as written.

Large potatoes may turn mushy if not cooked properly - boil until just soft and monitor air-frying time closely.

Very positive overall with high engagement. Most comments praise the recipe, with one practical issue about potatoes turning to mash and a remark about halloumi cost.
