This Privacy Policy describes how Zest ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our mobile application (iOS and Android), website at getzest.kitchen, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, if provided, your name and profile photo. If you sign up using Google or Apple, we receive the basic profile information you authorize through those services (typically your name and email).

Usage Data

When you submit a video link for recipe extraction, we process the URL to extract recipe information. We store the extracted recipe data and the source URL. For anonymous (non-logged-in) extractions, we store limited technical information solely to enforce usage limits and prevent abuse. We do not store your raw IP address.

User Content

We store the recipes, collections, grocery lists, personal notes, and images you create or save within the Service. This data is associated with your account and stored in our database.

Device and Push Notification Data

If you enable push notifications, we store your device push notification token and platform (iOS or Android) to deliver notifications you have requested.

Analytics Data

We collect analytics about how you use the Service. Analytics data may include page views, screen views, feature usage, and error reports. We do not use advertising trackers or ad networks.

Onboarding Preferences

During onboarding, we may ask about your cooking preferences (e.g., household size, cooking goals, cuisine preferences). This information is stored in your profile to personalize your experience.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Process recipe extractions and store your recipes
• Manage your account and authentication
• Process subscription payments through the App Store and Google Play

3. Service Providers

We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate the Service — for example, to provide hosting and infrastructure, process subscription payments, deliver email, provide authentication, and process recipe extractions. These providers may access your information only as necessary to perform services on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is processed and stored in the United States. We implement reasonable security measures to protect your information.

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Cookies

We use a minimal number of cookies. The Service sets a session cookie for authentication purposes. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies from third-party ad networks, or social media tracking pixels.

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share data:

• If you share a recipe publicly, other users can view it

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Technical data associated with anonymous extractions automatically expires after 72 hours. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time on our account deletion page.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
• Request a copy of your data in a portable format
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
